Chalet Pierra Menta is in the village of Les Coches which is situated right in the heart of the Paradiski area (La Plagne & Les Arcs linked). It is one of the prettiest parts of the whole ski area and we are thrilled to be able to include the catered chalet Pierra Menta in our ski holiday programme for a third season, particularly as the whole chalet was completely renovated in 2005 and now offers a very comfortable standard of accommodation.
The building is split into two distinct catered chalets; Pierra Menta is at the front, looking over the valley and towards the rock formation of Pierra Menta and Foret is at the rear.
Pierra Menta is a lovely ski chalet with accommodation spread over three floors. There are four good sized bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms and a comfortable lounge / dining room with magnificent views to the distant Mont blanc and a log burning stove. The entrance to the chalet is on the first floor level, with access via external steps (see picture above), this may mean that the chalet is not suitable for very young children.
The chalet is situated just 70 metres from the edge of the piste which sweeps down through the woods to Les Coches and the Plan Bois chairlift, and anybody who can ski that run should be able to ski right back to the door at the end of the day.
Skiing from the Chalet:
In the morning a 70 metre walk takes you to the edge of a red piste where a two minute ski /board will take you to the nearest lift located in the centre of Les Coches. This lift, the Plan Bois chair, is your first link into the whole of the La Plagne ski area. Also from the top of the Plan Bois a short ski of about 5 minutes will take you to the Vanoise Express cable car that links La Plagne to Les Arcs, giving you access to the whole of the wonderful Paradiski area.
At the end of the day, it is normally feasible to ski back to the chalet using a blue piste although the last 50 metres is gentle off piste. If you cannot manage that, then there is a 70 metre walk from the edge of the piste. |

Catering: | ::back to top | | Breakfast is provided every morning and consists of tea, coffee, fruit juice, porridge, muesli, cereal, yoghurts, plus bread, jams and honey. In addition, there will ba a variety of cooked items offered each day, eg: fried egg and sausages, scrambled egg with croissants, with a full English breakfast offered on one day per week.
On the chalet staff day off breakfast is a D.I.Y. affair, with guests being given the opportunity to cook their own breakfast!
Afternoon tea is prepared and left out for you to help yourself after your skiing or snowboarding, and consists of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, jams, etc., plus a homemade cake or biscuits or scones.
Dinner served on 6 nights a week, normally served around eight o'clock, is a delicious three course meal plus cheese accompanied by good quality house red and white wine with coffee and tea to finish.
For those guests perhaps wanting to purchase another wine for a special occasion, we have a short wine list available.
Let us know in advance if there are vegetarians or individuals with specific food allergies, and we will make sure that the menus are devised with these requirements in mind. |
