Holidays in Chalet La Ruche are great value: high altitude; delicious & nutritious food; mature, experienced staff…all the great service you expect from a posh skiing holiday, with a lower price-tag and a down-to-earth attitude.
Chalet La Ruche is in the pretty wooded area of Plagne 1800. It is a 3-minute walk to the village centre. You can ski to within 150m of the chalet and your hosts can take you in the minibus to the nearest lift in the mornings (a 2-minute drive!). |
Accommodation: | Chalet la Ruche is newly decorated for the 2007/08 season but retains its traditional chalet features.
The chalet has a sociable layout over three floors.
Lower Floor:
Spacious entrance hall & ski area; four twin bedrooms, all with ensuite shower & wc.
Middle Floor:
Large double room (ensuite bath, shower & wc); separate wc; kitchen; open plan living & dining area with plenty of comfy seating, a wood fire and doors leading out to a terrace with views across the valley.
Top Floor:
Twin and double room (with balcony) sharing shower room; further twin with ensuite shower & wc. |

Catering: | ::back to top | | Excellent, delicious, homemade food is served for the duration of your stay.
Breakfast:
Served between 8am & 9am (unless you arrange otherwise with your hosts), breakfast consists of a selection of cereals & yoghurts; fresh French bread with jams and all the usual spreads; hot option eg. bacon roll, or pancakes with maple syrup; porridge if requested; fruit juices and plenty of tea & coffee.
Afternoon Tea:
Cakes will be freshly baked every day and laid out for your return from the slopes.
Dinner:
The three-course evening meals are delicious and nutritious and are accompanied by carefully selected bottled wines.
On the first and last nights of your holiday pre-dinner canapés and aperitifs are served.
One evening a cheeseboard is served with a variety of tasty local cheeses.
Children's Dinner:
Kids' tea is served at 6pm. It is up to you if your children eat kids' or adults' dinner; we'll arrange it in advance with you to help us plan.
We know how important it is for your children to eat well when they’re skiing so we will take advice from you on their likes & dislikes. Because all our food is made from scratch we can even blend and hide vegetables if you need us to!

You are welcome to help yourself to tea & coffee at any time of day.
There is an honesty fridge that is stocked with beers, soft drinks & snacks for you.
Breakfast hot option and dinner is not served on chalet hosts' 1 day off; your hosts will of course leave out breakfast and afternoon tea for you and can recommend and book a restaurant for you. |
Child Discount: | ::back to top | Children’s prices apply for those aged 2-17 (inclusive) and are £50 less than the adult prices and do not apply on certain reduced prices.
For babies under 2 years old we just charge £50 (to cover cot, linen etc) as long as the baby sleeps in a cot in the parents’ room. |

Chalet La Ruche is a non-smoking chalet – ashtrays are provided on the balconies.
The variety of après-ski activities available in La Plagne is fantastic: the Olympic bob-sleigh track; an ice-climbing wall; an outdoor heated swimming pool; a spa with massage & beauty treatments; and numerous bars & restaurants. |
